Biography

Tish Diaz is a dynamic and versatile pianist, keyboardist, and musical director whose career spans an extraordinary range of musical worlds—from classical and jazz to rock, hip hop, R&B, country, gospel, and the electrifying energy of Broadway orchestra pits. A seasoned performer known for her artistry, professionalism, and musical depth, Tish has brought her talents to stages across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Asia. Most recently, Tish served as the Assistant Musical Director and Associate Conductor for the first national tour of “TINA – The Tina Turner Musical,” playing in the onstage band and leading performances throughout North America. Her work encompassed conducting, teaching music to principal and ensemble performers, coaching youth actors, and helping maintain the musical integrity and excellence of this major touring production.
Following the TINA tour, Tish helped launch the world premiere of “Co-Founders,” an original hip-hop musical at the American Conservatory Theater (ACT) in San Francisco. Set against the backdrop of Oakland and Silicon Valley, the production explored innovation, technology, and identity through a fresh contemporary score, and Tish provided steady musical support as the piece came together. She also contributed pre-production musical work for ”The Soiled Dove,” a theatrical concert experience featuring cameo appearances by the legendary Joan Baez, helping shape the early musical direction of the show.
Prior to these productions, Tish spent eight years as a keyboardist and background vocalist for the Las Vegas production of the hit Broadway musical “Jersey Boys,” helping anchor the show’s massively successful run. Her Las Vegas credits also include performing with the bigger-than-life rock vocalist Meat Loaf during the inaugural run of "RockTellz & CockTellz” at Planet Hollywood. She has performed with “Bat: A Meat Loaf Celebration,” alongside Meat Loaf’s official band, The Neverland Express, featuring American Idol winner Caleb Johnson. Throughout her career, Tish has collaborated with an impressive roster of celebrated artists, including Grammy winners Thelma Houston, Sarah Dash (LaBelle), and Huey Lewis; Francine Reed of Lyle Lovett’s Large Band; Tony Award winner Liliane Montevecchi; and the Grammy-nominated all-female country music group Wild Rose. She also served as keyboardist and keyboard programmer for the legendary Andy Williams, performing at his Moon River Theater in Branson, Missouri, as well as on national and international tours. Her work with Williams led to performances with entertainers such as Glen Campbell, Robert Goulet, Pat and Debby Boone, Phyllis Diller, and beloved ventriloquist Shari Lewis. In Las Vegas, Tish was the house bandleader and arranger for “Las Vegas Celebrates the Music of Michael Jackson”, produced by Erich Bergen (Jersey Boys, Madam Secretary). As an accompanist, she has collaborated with renowned Los Angeles vocal studios, including those of master vocal coach Seth Riggs and mezzo-soprano Mara Baygulova, and also had the pleasure of accompanying a master class led by the legendary Dame Cleo Laine.
Beyond her stage career, Tish is dedicated to music education and meaningful community work. She is especially proud of her ongoing involvement with Orquesta Guadalupana, a youth orchestra in Villa del Campo, Tijuana. After organizing a successful fundraising event, the program was able to acquire– with the assistance and generosity of the Roland Corporation U.S.– a new professional-level digital piano. To commemorate the event, she and the advanced students in the program performed a piece that was specifically composed for the ensemble. As a member of their Board of Trustees, Tish is committed to elevating and inspiring the next generation of musicians.
A consummate musician with four decades of professional experience, Tish Diaz continues to bring her signature blend of musicality, versatility, and heart to every stage, pit, studio, classroom, and rehearsal room she enters.
Tish earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano from the University of Southern California (USC), where her principal teacher was the legendary pianist Daniel Pollack. She also studied with esteemed pianist Eduardo Delgado and trained in collaborative piano with Dr. Jean Barr, as well as pursuing jazz and Latin jazz/Salsa studies with notable San Francisco-based pianists and educators Peter Horvath, Mark Little, Rebecca Mauleon and Bob Karty. Tish is an active member of the USC Latino Alumni Association and a three-time recipient of the Hispanic Women’s Council of Los Angeles Arts Grant.
